How it Works

The Favicon Generator uses the browser's Canvas API to process images locally on your device. When you upload an image, the tool draws it onto a canvas, resizes it to various standard dimensions (e.g., 16x16, 32x32), and converts them into ICO or PNG format ready for download.

FAQ

What is a Favicon?
Favicon stands for "Favorites Icon". It is a small icon associated with a website, typically displayed in the browser's address bar, tabs, history, and bookmarks.
Which sizes should I use?
The essentials are 16x16 (Browser Tabs) and 32x32 (Taskbar). We also recommend 180x180 (iPhone Home Screen) and 512x512 (PWA/Android).
Must it be .ico format?
For modern browsers, PNG is sufficient (e.g., ). However, keeping a favicon.ico in the root directory is still best practice for legacy IE support.
Are my images uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser (client-side). Your image data never leaves your device.
What is Apple Touch Icon?
This icon is used by iOS devices when a user adds your website to their "Home Screen". The standard size is 180x180 pixels, and it doesn't need rounded corners (iOS adds them automatically).
Supported image formats?
We support JPG, PNG, GIF (static), and SVG. We recommend uploading a square PNG image for the best transparency results.
Why is the icon blurry?
Make sure your source image is high quality (ideally 512x512 or larger). Note that tiny sizes like 16x16 will naturally look pixelated on high-res screens.
Is circular crop necessary?
No. If your LOGO is designed to fill a square, you don't need it. Circular crop is useful if you want your icon to appear as a circle within the square container.
